My work as an Undergraduate at the University of Washington Tacoma
High school is a pivotal time for adolescents as they begin to map out their future aspiration. This is also a time where patterns for alcohol and drug use can be cemented in that young person’s life, inhibiting them from a boundless future. Project READY goes into public school system and works this population. The goal being to allow adolescences to see the how their drug and alcohol use is inhibiting or altering their everyday lives and ultimately their future aspirations. We come from a non-judgmental place and because we are trained in motivational interviewing, interventionist are able to create an easy manner of dialogue.
